Achilles pain,
fixed properly
Achilles pain loves to hang around. Rest it and it feels better, start again and it's straight back. Tendons don't heal with rest. They heal with the right load. We find what's overloading yours, calm it down hands-on and build it stronger than before. Get better. Stay better.

SOUND FAMILIAR?
/ The Achilles that
won't settle
✓Stiff and sore for the first steps out of bed
✓Warms up during a run, then aches afterwards
✓Tender or thickened just above the heel
✓Worse on hills, speed work or after a long run
✓Sore pushing off or going up stairs
✓You rested it for weeks. It came back the first week back
Rest isn't a treatment plan.
It's a pause button.
Achilles pain is a tendon telling you it's been asked to do more than it's ready for. Tendons get stronger with the right loading and weaker with too much rest. Calf strength, training changes and footwear all play a part. That's why rest alone never fixes it and why we start by finding the actual cause.
WHAT'S ACTUALLY GOING ON
/ Achilles problems we treat every week
Different problems need different plans. Naming yours precisely is step one of fixing it.
Pain and stiffness a few centimetres above the heel, worst first thing. The most common Achilles problem in runners and very treatable.
Mid-portion Achilles pain
Pain right where the tendon meets the heel bone, often worse with tight shoes and hills. Needs a different plan to mid-tendon pain.
Insertional Achilles pain
A grabbing or tearing feeling in the calf, often on a push-off or sprint. Early, graded loading gets you back sooner.
Calf strains
Coming back after an Achilles rupture, with or without surgery. Structured rehab from first steps to running and sport.
Achilles rupture rehab
A sore spot at the back of the heel that rubs in certain shoes. We work out whether it's the tendon, the bursa or both.
Back of heel pain
Pain that started after a change: new shoes, more hills or a jump in speed work. We look at the change and your body together.
Training load flare-ups
Achilles pain rarely fixes itself.
The longer it grumbles, the more your calf weakens and the harder it is to load back up. Every week you wait is a week of compensation we'll have to undo. Same-week appointments mean you don't have to wait.
/ The TAP Method, applied to your running
The reason our results last when quick fixes don't. One plan, one team, three steps.
OUR 3 STEP SYSTEM. WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR FIRST SESSION
01
Assess
A proper conversation, then a full assessment: tendon, calf strength, foot, hip, running gait and your training history. We find the true cause of your Achilles pain, not just where it hurts. Most runners tell us nobody has ever looked this closely before.
02
Treat
Hands-on treatment from minute one: soft tissue work, dry needling, cupping and tendon loading, tailored to what your Achilles actually needs. You'll feel a difference before you leave the room.
03
Rebuild
Progressive calf and tendon loading plus a sensible return-to-run plan, so your Achilles handles more than it did before. This is the step every quick fix skips and the reason ours doesn't come back.
No GP referral, no scan required, no fixed packages, no pressure. In your first session we'll find what's actually driving your Achilles pain and tell you honestly how we can help, or point you to who can if we're not the right fit.

TAP client · 5-star review · Achilles
Megan is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I fully ruptured my Achilles tendon 1.5 years ago and have other injuries as a result of the muscular imbalance. Megan continually provides relevant and helpful advice to decide the treatment which is best for me. I regularly see Megan for treatment to help reduce aches and pains. Fully recommend!!

Had an excellent sports massage that helped me recover from a hamstring injury and get back to playing.

GOOD TO KNOW
/ Achilles questions, answered
Do I need a GP referral or a scan first?
No. You can book directly with us as a private patient. A thorough physical assessment diagnoses most Achilles problems accurately without a scan. If we think imaging would genuinely change your treatment, we'll tell you and point you the right way.
Should I keep running?
Often yes, at the right level. Tendons usually tolerate some running while you build strength. Your plan will tell you how much is safe, what to swap in and what to avoid for now.
How many sessions will I need?
Most Achilles problems need somewhere between 3 and 6 sessions alongside your home plan. Tendons are slower to change than muscles, so patience pays. We'll give you an honest estimate at your first assessment.
Should I stretch it?
Usually not much. Stretching an irritated tendon, especially at the heel, can make it worse. Strength work is what changes tendon pain and that is what we build with you.
Can I be seen this week?
Almost always. We hold same-week appointments at Warwick (4 The Holloway), Stratford-upon-Avon (Unit 3, Avon House, 4 Mulberry Street) and Leamington Spa (REGEN Rooms, Augusta Place). Our Warwick clinic is open 7 days.
We also treat back pain, hip pain, sciatica, neck pain, shoulder pain and plantar fasciitis.
Ready to trust your Achilles again?
You've got three options: keep hoping it settles on its own, keep paying for quick fixes that last a few days, or let us find the real cause and fix it properly. Book your Achilles assessment at Warwick or Stratford and take the first step back to pain-free running today.
Your first session includes a full assessment. We'll find what's driving your Achilles pain, or tell you honestly if we're not the right fit.
