Heel pain,
fixed properly

Those first steps out of bed shouldn't feel like walking on glass. Most heel pain advice stops at rest, ice and insoles, and the pain keeps coming back. We find what's actually overloading your plantar fascia, then fix it hands-on. Get better, and stay better.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

/ The heel that dreads

the first steps of the day

The first steps of the morning are the worst part of the da

✓Eases as you warm up, then aches again after you've been sitting

✓Sharp under the heel after a long day on your fee

✓You can run through it, but you pay for it later that evening

✓New trainers and insoles helped for a week, then didn't

✓It's been months now, and it's clearly not "wearing off"

Rest isn't a treatment plan.

 It's a pause button.

Plantar fasciitis is a load problem: the fascia under your heel is being asked to absorb more than it can currently handle, step after step. Rest calms it down, which is exactly why it feels better on holiday and worse the Monday you're back on your feet. Nothing has changed underneath. The fix is building the capacity of your calf and foot while managing the load going through them, not waiting and hoping.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY GOING ON

/ Foot & heel problems we treat every week

Different problems need different plans. Naming yours precisely is step one of fixing it.

That sharp, first-steps-of-the-morning pain under the heel. The most common heel problem we see, and one that responds brilliantly to the right loading plan.

Plantar fasciitis

Stiff, sore or thickened at the back of the heel, worst first thing and after runs. Tendons respond to progressive loading, not to rest.

Achilles tendon pain

Often blamed, rarely the real cause. Plenty of pain-free heels have spurs on a scan. We treat the overloaded tissue, not the shadow on the X-ray.

Heel spurs

Aching arches, midfoot soreness and feet that give up before you do. Usually a strength and load story the right plan can rewrite.

Foot & arch pain

Calf tightness & overload

Tight, cramping calves that never quite loosen off, quietly feeding load straight into your heel. Often the missing piece of a plantar fasciitis puzzle.

Feet that complain a few miles in, or the morning after. We look at your gait, footwear and training load, then get you back to running, not just resting.

Running-related foot pain

Heel pain rarely fixes itself.

Every month it hangs around, you walk a little less, stand a little less, avoid a little more. The dog walks get shorter, the runs stop, the shoes get chosen for your heel instead of you. Every week you wait is a week of avoidance we'll have to undo. Same-week appointments mean you don't have to wait.

The reason our results last when quick fixes don't. One plan, one team, three steps.

OUR 3 STEP SYSTEM. WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR FIRST SESSION

01

Assess

A proper conversation, then a full assessment: foot, ankle, calf, gait, footwear, training load and how you spend your day on your feet. We find what's actually overloading your heel, not just where it hurts. Most people tell us nobody has ever looked this closely before.

02

Treat

Hands-on treatment from minute one: massage, mobilisation, dry needling, cupping and more, tailored to what your foot and calf actually need. You'll feel a difference before you leave the room.

03

Rebuild

Progressive calf and foot loading, built up week by week until your heel can handle more than your life asks of it. This is the step every insole and frozen water bottle skips, and the reason our results don't come back.

No GP referral, no scan required, no fixed packages, no pressure. In your first session we'll find what's actually driving your heel pain and tell you honestly how we can help, or point you to who can if we're not the right fit.

/ How long does heel recovery take?

Anyone promising to fix your shoulder in one session is guessing. Here's what we actually see in clinic when people follow their plan.

Paige B · Fresha review · Return to running

Lauren has been fantastic, really glad I found TAP clinic when I started running postpartum! I've had some injuries along the way and Lauren has helped me with physio exercises & a plan for recovery, which has meant I was back running injury free - along with some sports massage for maintance - would reccomend to everyone.

Matt G · Fresha review · Running recovery

I came to see Lauren three times for sports leg massages after getting back into running over the last couple of months. She's been brilliant every time, professional, knowledgeable, and somehow able to find muscles I didn't even know I had. I always leave feeling lighter, refreshed, and looking forward to the next appointment more than I probably should. Highly recommend Lauren if your legs need expert attention.

GOOD TO KNOW

Heel pain questions, answered

Do I need a GP referral or a scan first?

No. You can book directly with us as a private patient. No GP referral, no scan needed.

A thorough physical assessment diagnoses most knee problems accurately, and if we think

imaging would genuinely change your treatment, we'll tell you and point you the right way.

Do I need insoles or orthotics?

Sometimes they help, as a short-term way to calm an angry heel down while we do the real work.

But they're rarely the whole answer. An insole changes how load hits your foot; it doesn't build your foot's

capacity to handle load. That's what the rehab plan is for, and it's why insoles alone so often disappoint.

Should I stop running or walking?

Usually not: modify, don't stop. Complete rest calms your heel without changing why it flared up,

and the pain tends to return the week you start again. We'll adjust distance, surfaces, footwear and

frequency so you keep moving while the fascia recovers, then build you back up deliberately.

How long until the first steps stop hurting?

Morning pain is usually one of the first things to improve. Most people notice those first steps

easing within 2–6 weeks of starting the right plan. Long-standing cases take longer to fully resolve,

but you shouldn't have to wait months to feel the difference. Your assessment gives you an honest timeline for your heel.

Is it heel spur?

Probably not the way you've been told. Heel spurs show up on the X-rays of plenty of people with

no heel pain at all. They're a sign of load over time, not usually the thing that hurts. The painful structure

is almost always the overloaded plantar fascia itself, which is good news: it responds to treatment, no surgery required.

Can I be seen this week?

Almost always. We hold same-week appointments across both clinics and we're open 7 days.

Warwick (4 The Holloway) and Stratford-upon-Avon (Unit 3, Avon House, 4 Mulberry Street) both treat shoulders daily.

Ready for pain-free first steps?

You've got three options: keep hoping it settles on its own, keep paying for quick fixes that last a few days, or let us find the real cause and fix it properly. Book your heel assessment at Warwick or Stratford and take the first step out of pain today.

Your first session includes a full assessment. We'll find what's

driving your heel pain, or tell you honestly if we're not the right fit.

No fixed packages, no pressure.
